Tennis Camp

Tennis camp is back at Forestmeadows Park & Athletic Center and Winthrop Park.  It is designed for beginning to intermediate level participants and will emphasize the development of stroke fundamentals, conditioning, footwork drills, tennis rules, etiquette, and introduce the students to competitive match play.  Activities will run rain or shine. Inside activities will occur with inclement weather. Each site will be supervised by one of our certified USPTA professionals.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q) What is the student to instructor ratio?
A) The ratio is 8:1 for regular clinics and 5:1 for advanced classes.

Q) How do I know what class to sign-up for?
A) We will have a skills testing during registration to place students in the class with comparable level of students. Call 891-3920 to be placed on the testing list.

Q) What do we do in case of inclement weather?
A) You can call the Park where your class is being held half an hour before your class. However, Winthrop and Tom Brown Parks do not have staff available until 5pm during the week. Students for 4:00pm class will have to call Forestmeadows half an hour before the class to see if class will be held.

Q) Will rainouts be made up?
A) The Tennis Division staff will make up as many rainouts as time and schedule permits.

Q) Can I get a refund if I can't attend the session that I am signed up for?
A) You can get a refund for the entire session if you call Forestmeadows during the first week of class only. Refunds on extenuating circumstances will be taken into consideration by the Tennis Superintendent.

Q) How can I see if either myself or my child need to move up to the next level?
A) You can have one of the City teaching professional staff test before or during registration to establish the proper instructional group.

Q) What do the different red ball levels mean?
A) Red Ball Level 3 - Child is learning to serve, rally and score; Red Ball Level 2 - Child can rally and play a match on a 60ft. modified court; Red Ball Level 1 - Child is a competent red ball match player.
