City Commission to hold Budget Workshop
February 26, 2018
The Tallahassee City Commission will hold a workshop on Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 1 p.m. in the City Commission Chambers, second floor, City Hall, 300 South Adams Street.
The workshop will focus on the Fiscal Year 2018 (FY18) First Quarter Update. As part of the City's commitment to financial transparency, quarterly budgets updates began in FY16. The purpose of the quarterly updates is to continuously evaluate progress, identify evolving issues as needed and make strategic budget adjustments to ensure issues are addressed in a timely manner. The quarterly updates also serve to inform planning for the next budget cycle through feedback on operational issues, coordination of capital planning and the development of future budget assumptions.
Following this first quarterly update for FY18, updates will be provided on May 9 and July 11.
In addition, planning is underway for the FY19 budget. An FY19 Operating Budget Priorities Workshop will take place on April 11. An FY19 Budget Workshop will take place on June 6. At the meeting on July 11, the Commission will also set the tentative millage rate for FY19. Public hearings on the FY19 budget will take place on September 12 and 26. Additional opportunities for public input will be posted as they become available.
The workshop agenda can be viewed at http://go.boarddocs.com/fla/talgov/Board.nsf/Public. The workshop is open to the public and will be aired live on WCOT (Comcast and CenturyLink channel 13) and streamed on Talgov.com.
