About Us

The City of Tallahassee is a leading community partner that actively connects residents to resources that remove economic and social barriers. Through the Human Services Division, the City builds community resilience through a trauma-informed safety net, self-sufficiency, and wellness programs delivered in partnership with local nonprofit agencies.

The City's primary mechanism for providing human services is through the Community Human Service Partnership (CHSP)), a partnership with Leon County that invests in a broad range of human service programs implemented by local nonprofit organizations. In addition to CHSP, the City implements several targeted initiatives to advance strategic priorities in homelessness, neighborhood resilience, mental health, and nonprofit agency capacity building.

In 2019, the City Commission established the Bridge Program to help build capacity for small startup nonprofit human service agencies so they can transition into the CHSP process.

The division administers Emergency Solutions Grants and some Community Development Block Grants from the Department of Housing and Urban Development to support homelessness coordination and programming at Neighborhood Resilience Hubs, also known as Service Centers.
