MLK Day Parade

City of Tallahassee MLK Day Celebration - January 16, 2023

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. dedicated his life to the pursuit of social justice and equality. To honor his life and legacy, the City of Tallahassee will host a day-long celebration on Jan. 16, 2023, including the MLK Day Parade, 23rd annual Day of Dialogue and ninth annual MLK Day Festival. The parade will take place along North Monroe Street prior to the festival in Cascades Park.

Schedule of Events

  • 12:00pm - MLK Day Parade along North Monroe Street, beginning at Call Street and heading south.
  • 2:00 - 6:00pm - MLK Day Festival at Cascades Park featuring live entertainment, local food vendors and family-friendly fun. Tallahassee Nights Live will take the stage at the closing act from 4:30 - 6:00pm
  • 2:30 - 4:00pm - Day of Dialogue at the Parkview at Cascades broaden your perspective with a screening of the film “Race to be Human” and conversations led by diverse speakers at the annual Day of Dialogue, held at the Parkview at Cascades.
  • 3:30pm - Adderley Amphitheater dedication at Cascades Park with musical tribute.

Road Closure Information

  • Road closures along Adams St. for the NAACP march from C.K. Steele Plaza to the Florida Capitol will begin at 8:45am - Adams St. will reopen by 10:30am.
  • For the MLK Day Parade, Call St. will close from Duval St. to Calhoun St. beginning at 10:30am, and Monroe St. will close from Tennessee St. to Gaines St. beginning at 11:00am The parade will start on Monroe St. at Call St. at 12:00pm. Roads are expected to reopen by approximately 1:30pm.
  • For the MLK Day Festival at Cascades Park, Suwannee St. will close at 12:00pm from Myers Park Dr. to the Edison restaurant and reopen at 8:00pm. The festival will take place from2:00 - 6:00pm.
