River Plantation Water Main Replacement Project

The River Plantation Water Main Replacement Project includes the replacement of existing potable water infrastructure in the River Plantation (aka, Wakulla River Club) development. The project site is located within Wakulla County off Shadeville Road (CR 365). The project will replace approximately 12,000 linear feet of existing 6-inch diameter water main and associated valves, services, meters, fire hydrants and other appurtenances.

  1. What is the project’s scope??
    The River Plantation Water Main Replacement Project includes the replacement of existing potable water infrastructure in the River Plantation (aka, Wakulla River Club) subdivision. The project site is located within Wakulla County on the south side of Shadeville Road (CR 365) along the east side of the Wakulla River. The project will replace approximately 12,000 linear feet of existing 6-inch diameter water main and associated valves, services, meters, fire hydrants and other system components.
  2. What are the benefits of this project?
    This project will replace aging utility infrastructure to reduce service interruptions due to maintenance and repair activities. This will allow the City to continue providing reliable, quality service for residents. The project also enhances fire protection by upsizing the mains and adding additional hydrants.

  4. When will the project begin, and how long it will last?
    The project is currently in the design phase. Design is estimated to be complete late in 2022. Bid solicitation for the construction of this project is anticipated in January/February 2023. Construction is estimated to commence in late spring, barring unforeseen circumstances.
  5. Are road closures expected?
    Road closures are not anticipated; however, flagging within the work zone with intermittent lane closures should be expected.
  6. What can be expected in terms of restoration?
    During construction, work will occur in the road right-of-way/utility easement. All disturbed areas will be restored to their previous condition, including replacement of sod, sidewalk, driveways, etc., where impacted by construction activities.
