The Providence Heart of the Hills Placemaking project encompasses the addition of sidewalks and street trees on Highland Street, Hillsborough Street, and Lake Avenue. Additionally, the intersections of Lake Avenue & Highland Street and Lake Avenue & Hillsborough Street will be repaved with decorative asphalt.

Project Details

Project Scope

• Provide increased pedestrian connectivity along Highland Street, Hillsborough Street, and Lake Avenue
• Resurface the intersections of Lake Avenue & Highland Street and Lake Avenue & Hillsborough Street with colored and decorative asphalt

Typical Sections

• All new sidewalks will be 6’ wide
• Street trees planted along all three streets

Project Schedule

• Design: Anticipated to be completed in late 2021
• Construction: Anticipated to begin in September 2022
• Project Completion: Anticipated to finish by Fall 2023
