- What is the project’s scope?
The Country Club Drive Water Main Replacement project includes the replacement of existing potable water infrastructure in portions of Country Club Drive, Sarasota Drive and Limbo Lane. The project will replace approximately 4,100 linear feet of existing 2-inch diameter water main with 8-inch diameter water main and associated valves, services, meters, fire hydrants and fittings.
- What are the benefits of this project?
This project will replace aging utility infrastructure to reduce service interruptions caused by maintenance and repair activities. This will allow the City to continue providing reliable, quality water service for area residents. The project also will improve system capacity and enhance fire protection in the area by upsizing the mains and adding additional hydrants.
- Who is managing/administering the project?
The Design Project Manager is Brian Moody with the City of Tallahassee’s Underground Utilities and Public Infrastructure department. He can be contacted at Brian.Moody@Talgov.com.
- When will the project begin, and how long it will last?
The project is currently in the procurement phase. The project is expected to be advertised for bids in November 2021. Construction is expected to begin in spring 2022 and last for approximately 4 to 6 months.
- What will the contractor’s working hours be?
The contractor’s anticipated work hours will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
- Are road closures expected?
Intermittent lane and road closures will occur within the work zone. The work zone will progress in phases throughout the project limits.
- What can be expected in terms of restoration?
Most of the work will occur in the roadway. All disturbed areas will be restored to their previous condition, including replacement of sod, driveways, etc., where impacted by construction activities. The existing asphalt will be patched after the utilities have been installed, and the roadway will be resurfaced after the completion of the utility project.
