The City of Tallahassee’s Pinewood Drive and Delta Office Park Stormwater Outfall Project is designed to reduce residential flooding and erosion problems that have historically affected properties in the area. The City is also using this opportunity to upgrade the underground utilities and repave the asphalt in the areas of the stormwater construction.
Since November 2022, the contractor and the City have been working toward securing needed construction approvals and coordinating other consents such as NPDES, drainage structure shop drawings, project awareness for adjacent businesses and the maintenance of traffic plan. The City, in cooperation with the contractor, has been facilitating the issuance of the maintenance of traffic plan to ensure the safest and least impactful approach is implemented.
To safely facilitate the next portion of construction, eastbound John Knox Road between Delta Way and Woodcrest Office Park will be closed from Monday, Feb. 13, through Monday, March 27, weather permitting. Local access will be maintained, and detour routes will be clearly posted using signs and variable message boards. Detours will direct thru traffic to use Monroe Street to Allen Road to Fulton Road / Grady Road / Henderson Road to N. Meridian Road. The second route will direct thru traffic to use Monroe Street to Bradford Road to N. Meridian Road. Work hours for this closure will be Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Following this portion of construction, work hours are anticipated to be, generally, from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays. Sections of Delta Way will be constructed during nightly closures to limit the disturbance to the businesses within the office park.
This full project is scheduled to be completed in summer 2023, barring any unanticipated delays.
Project Inspector Chris Hampton, (850) 661-0820, and Senior Inspector Joel Daughtry, (850) 545-7048, are available to answer any questions you may have throughout the process.
