Your energy auditor will calculate the exact job cost, and provide a list of participating insulation contractors who agree to install at that low cost. We've raised the insulation target levels: R38 if you heat with a natural gas furnace, oil furnace or electric heat pump; R49 if you heat with a central electric resistance furnace. R38 is about 15 inches of blown white fiberglass, or about 10 1/2 inches of loose-fill cellulose insulation.
