Adoptable Community Pets & Rehoming Program
The listing below are animals currently in need of homes in our community. This program is a courtesy to Leon County pet owners who have had to make the difficult decision to rehome their pet. These animals are offered for adoption by their owners at no cost as they are looking for a loving, lifelong home. Just a few simple steps and you'll be meeting your new best friend:
- When you see an animal you'd like to adopt, please download and complete the questionnaire (PDF); if you already have an approved questionnaire on file just give us a call! If you have issues submitting, please fill out the form, save it and send the saved PDF to adopt@talgov.com.
- Once an adoption questionnaire has been submitted, an adoption counselor will be in contact with you within 2 business days of receiving your application.
- After approval your questionnaire will be emailed to the animal's current owner. They will be responsible with following up with you to arrange a meeting of the pet so please be patient.

DAISY - A197382 I am a spayed female Labrador Retriever mix and I am about 2 years and 4 months old I'm Daisy! I was originally found stray in Liberty county and a wonderful couple took me in. They got me spayed, microchipped and vaccinated and now I am healthy and ready for a new home. They would keep me (because they absolutely adore me) but their existing dog is not my biggest fan & well, it just isn't fair to me long term. I am a bouncy girl who weighes 47lbs. I love all sorts of people and I get along well with other dogs and cats too. I love kids but I imagine older ones would be best for me as I am a bit energetic for the wee ones. I love going on car rides, adventures and snuggling with my people too! If you are looking for a healthy, active pup who already has all the best socialization and acclimation to home living, you won't be disappointed when you meet me!

PENNY - A172362 I am a spayed female Bluetick Coonhound mix and I am about 7 years old Meet Penny!
She was adopted from the shelter in 2017 but sadly her family needs to find better placement for her now. She needs a new home with more time for her and without chickens. She is crate trained and housebroken, treat motivated and even knows a few commands! She's been known to be an escape artist so leaving her alone in a yard isn't ideal. Her family describes her as smart, protective and sweet. She has some leash reactivity and may do best as the only dog.

BANDO - A201734 I am a unaltered male Boxer mix and I am about 1 year and 2 months old Hi, I'm Bando! I am 1-year-old, mixed breed dog looking for a new home due to my current pet parent moving in with family that is allergic to me. I am a happy go lucky boy that is always ready for a car ride, playing with toys, and even cuddling. I have been okay with smaller children but I do ask they not try to touch my things or me when I am enjoying chewing on a bone or eating. While I know "sit", I am happy to learn more treats if you will help me! If I sound like a good addition to your family, complete an adoption questionnaire today!

LOUIE - A199790 I am a neutered male American Staffordshire Terrier mix and I am about 2 years and 6 months old I'm Louie! I'm 60lbs of handsomeness! I was found wandering around and my owner was never located. I am on the calmer side for my age and breed type, as I like to enjoy the little things in life - scritches, attention, walks, toys and learning new things. I am easy to walk and I'm a joy to spend time with as I listen to your every word and following up with affection. I am social with other dogs and I appear to have some housetraining. If you are looking for an easy dog that won't require a ton of attention during their transition to a new home, I'm the one for you! In turn, I promise to be the bestest companion ever!

She would do best in a quiet, adult only home where she can be the center of attention. She will come with all of her supplies so all she needs is you! DEVORAH - A200754 I am a spayed female Labrador Retriever and I am about 1 year and 4 months old I'm Devorah! I'm an awesome dog looking for a new start! My mom purchased me from a breeder when I was just a puppy but due to life changes and responsibilities, I'm in need of a new home. She is reluctant to give me up but knows that it is what is best for me. She said that I am very social, quiet and calm. I get along well with other dogs and I've been to the dog park. I'm an inside dog that enjoys walks and car rides. I know my basic manners and I'm housetrained and crate trained. Essentially, I'm the typical happy, smart, well socialized Lab that isn't too active. I have some special needs medical issues but that shouldn't deter you if you are looking for the perfect companion! If you are ready to fall in love, fill out an adoption questionnaire today!

PIPER - A201810 I am a unaltered female Labrador Retriever and Border Collie and I am about 2 years and 7 months old I'm Piper! I'm a social, happy and outgoing girl that is looking for a new home as I need a lot more exercise and time than my current family can give me. My current family says that I have been an inside dog, I'm housetrained & I have some basic manners. I enjoy car rides, walks and any adventure you have in mind as I am always ready and willing! I can be a bit rambuctious with smaller dogs but dogs my size and larger would be a great fit for me as long as they love to play like I do! I get along with farm animals too! As my breed type indiciates, I am energetic and super smart so someone that knows how to keep my border collie brain busy is essential. Of course, that family would need to have plenty of time to spend spoiling me too, so if that sounds like you, apply to meet me today!

FEATHERS - A198722 I am a spayed female Domestic Shorthair and I am about 5 years old Hi there, I'm Feathers! My previous owner passed away so I am staying with family members until I find my forever home. I love pets, and cuddling up with my person. My previous owner had a small dog and I was fine with him but I would prefer to be the only feline friend in your home. I would prefer a quiet home where I can be the princess that I am!

ANGEL - A198723 I am a neutered male Domestic Shorthair and I am about 5 years old Hi there, I am Angel! My previous owner passed away so I am staying with family members until I find my forever home. I can be a little shy at first but once I feel safe I am happy to cuddle up with you after a long day. While I have lived with other cats, I prefer that they give me my space. My previous owner had a small dog and I did well with him. If you have a quiet home and will allow me time to adjust, I am sure you will find that I am a super sweet and mellow guy.

CREED - A201908 I am a unaltered male American Staffordshire Terrier and I am about 2 years and 1 month old Meet Creed! He is a handsome energetic boy looking for a new home because his owner needs to move and cannot take him. He loves car rides and a good game of fetch. Creed knows several basic obedience commands and is housetrained and crate trained. He is loyal and full of love and requests that we find him a new home without cats.

SUKI - A194915 I am a spayed female American Staffordshire Terrier mix and I am about 3 years old I'm Suki! I'm a 50lb girl that was originally adopted from the shelter by my current family (so I am spayed, vaccinated, microchipped & heartworm negative). My family went on to have a child which I get along with quite well but as any parent knows, a child brings a lot of disruption to a home and I haven't adjusted well to that chaos. I am a creature of habit (some may call it anxiety, others may say I have OCD) as I like everything exactly how it is and thrive in a structured routine. As a soft, sensitive empathic dog, I am looking for a quiet home where I can thrive and be spoiled every waking moment, okay, I know that is a lot to ask, but I honestly do enjoy a lot of attention and reassurance. I am extremely well behaved, housetrained and have good house manners. I get along with everyone I meet (except cats!) but crave a stable home environment. I greet everyone I meet with a toy in mouth and I nice big body wag! If you are looking for an easy girl and have a quiet, calm home, apply to meet me today!
