OpenGov serves as the City of Tallahassee’s transparency tool. It is designed to help citizens understand more about the operations and performance of Tallahassee. This tool can be used to review each year’s operating and capital budgets and real time checkbook transactions.

The City regulates the planning, management, and financing of general government and enterprise operations through established policy standards. These policies define the appropriate use of year-end surpluses, transfers to general government operations, and establish operating reserves for select funds. Additional reserves such as the deficiencies, fleet, and RR&I reserves are also governed by the City’s finance policies.

Various trainings are offered through organizations such as the Florida League of Cities (FLC), the Center for Florida Local Governmental Excellence (CFLGE), Florida City and County Management Association (FCCMA), and the International City/County Management Association (ICMA). Training topics cover a range of topics related to local government leadership and ethics. A few highlighted for elected officials include:

• FLC's Institute for Elected Municipal Officials  - This training offers multiple levels of training designed for municipal officials of all levels.
• FLC's University – The FLC University offers tools, educational programs, resources, and best practices for various topics that municipalities face every day.
• FLC's Ethics Training – These continuing educational trainings offer information on Florida Ethics Laws, open meetings, and open records.
• ICMA's Ethics Training
