Hilaman Golf Course provides private lesson instruction for players of all ages and ability, and our golf course is a proud supporter of the Get Golf Ready group lesson program. Lesson options can be tailored to fit the goals of any player, from beginner to advanced and from young to old. Hilaman Golf Course specializes in teaching beginner players and helping all players improve their game with specific short game and scoring instruction.

PGA Teaching Professional: Brad Harper

PGA Teaching Professional

Brad began his golf career at Cooks Creek Golf Course in Ohio. In 2015, he made the move to Florida and began working at SouthWood Golf Club. He took on the role as Head Golf Professional but knew there was something bigger he was meant to do. Sensing a calling to teach and grow the game of golf full time, Brad accepted the role at Hilaman Golf Course as the Director of Instruction. His love for the game keeps him studying and learning different ways to make each individual golfer better. Brad has gotten the opportunity to shadow and attend seminars from some of the world's best instructors, such as Mike Bender, Jim McLean, Pete Cowen and Mark Blackburn, just to name a few.

"I want people of all ages, genders and skill level to love and enjoy the game of golf. I believe I can show and teach everyone how to do this."

Individual Lessons

Our Hilaman PGA Teaching Professional provides private golf lessons for players of all ages and ability, and our facility is a proud supporter of the Get Golf Ready group lesson program. Lesson options are tailored to fit the goals of all players, no matter their skill level.

Adults

1 Hour

  • 1 Lesson - $65
  • Series of 3 Lessons - $185
  • Series of 5 Lessons - $295

1/2 Hour

  • 1 Lesson - $40
  • Series of 3 Lessons - $110
  • Series of 5 Lessons - $175

Juniors (17 and under)

1/2 Hour

  • 1 Lesson - $40

Tallahassee Junior Golf Academy

The City of Tallahassee's Hilaman Golf Course is proud to host spring golf camps. With options for kids ages 5-17 of all skill levels, these camps will help participants learn and refine skills that can be used for a lifetime. PGA Teaching Professional Brad Harper will provide instruction. Below are the dates, times and pertinent information for each camp.

Young Golfers: $150 per child

  • Six Week Program
  • Call for dates and times
  • Ages 5 to 9

Older Golfers: $150 per child

  • Six Week Program
  • Call for dates and times
  • Ages 10 to 17

Recreational Summer Golf Camp: $250 per child

  • Choose Week 1: June 12-16, or Week 2: June 26-29 or Week 3: July 17-21
  • 9-11 a.m.
  • Recreational playing experience - full golf swing, short game, golf course knowledge and most important - fun
  • Ages 7+

Competitive Summer Golf Camp: $350 per child

  • Call for dates and times
  • Competitive playing experience - full golf swing, short game, 9 holes walking daily and much more
  • Ages 10+

Get Golf Ready

The Get Golf Ready group lesson programs are designed to create a relaxed and fun learning environment to help golfers of all ability, from beginner to advanced, learn and improve their golf skills. The classes run for 5 consecutive weeks and last approximately 75 minutes per session. Equipment is provided if needed and class size is limited to 6 people per class.

Level 1: $109

Perfect for beginners and players looking to return to the game. This class introduces you to all the skills required to play the game of golf. From the full swing. to putting and chipping. This class will prepare you for playing and having fun on the course.

Level 2: $119

For graduates of a Level 1 (see above) class and all golfers looking to improve their game. This class builds on the instruction from the GGR1 class and includes more in depth instruction and course management skills.

The Short Game: $125

This class will focus on all the skills and shots you face from 100 yards and in to the green. It is designed specifically to help players improve their short game skills. From putting, chipping, reading greens and bunker shots, this class is great way to help you learn how to shoot lower scores.
