Smoke Testing of Sewer Lines

As part of its continued commitment to enhance wastewater infrastructure and protect the environment, the City of Tallahassee's Underground Utilities began smoke testing around the community in January. This routine, preventative maintenance test will help identify potential points of unwanted inflow and infiltration in the sewer system, thereby improving wastewater treatment operations and efficiency.

A key component within this redevelopment is construction of the new headquarters facility for the Tallahassee Police Department. Additionally, the site presents opportunities for new green space, community amenities and other economic development projects.

Balkin Road and Center Drive Water Main Replacement

The City of Tallahassee completed a water main replacement project along Balkin Road and Center Drive. The project included construction of a new 8-inch water main, water services and meters to replace the existing system currently serving the area, as well as replacement of existing fire hydrants and the addition of a few new ones to increase fire protection coverage. The new water facilities are intended to result in reduced utility maintenance activities, improved system capacity and reliability, and increased fire protection.
